I can't help thinking that the face masks on public transport thing is rather unequal as it will tend to effect the elderly (most of whom are double jabbed) the less well off and the green by nature (we choose not to own a car).

It'll get complicated with buses and trains that cross the border- we have the same issue here with Wales.

I agree that it's unequal in terms of class. But I talked to my fully vaccinated 90-year-old mother yesterday, and while she doesn't like the mask in hot weather, she's nervous about people going unmasked on buses and the Tube. Her figuring is that yes, she has probably reduced her risk by 95% compared to without the vaccine, but also at 90 she 's more vulnerable to start with, and more likely to.

I think her plan is to wear a mask while actually on transit, if she needs to take a bus or train to get somewhere. (She has friends who have been eager to do her shopping, and drive her to the doctor and dentist, much moreso than a lot of other 90-year-old women.)

I'm in the US, and glad they're still mandating masks on transit--and that people in my area are mostly following that, enough so that I remember the one person who lowered her mask to drink coffee on the bus a couple of days ago. (I don't drive, so this affects my travel anywhere beyond walking distance of home.)

Oh yeah!

I guess in the process of trying to forget Eich existed I just replaced him with Crockford (who seems to be a bit more respectable and involved with the early design, but not the creator). LOL.

On the other side, I saw an ad from the mid 1960s encouraging students to get into the booming aerospace industry.

I wonder when we start redesigning packaging to be robot friendly.
