Fucking spammers!

I just got spam. This is not unusual. What's annoying is that the "to" was "andrew@notzen.com, broin@notzen.com, chett@notzen.com, dave@notzen.com"

That's 4 of the people on my domain, all in the same email. I'm somewhat amazed that more of us aren't spammers lists, admittedly. It does go to show which of us hang out in the message boards more.

Somehow, my website's email account (which I'd never used and certainly never published anywhere) got spam.

WTF?

I figure, it's one of three things:
* DreamHost sells email addresses
* They just "guessed" right
* It's listed somewhere, such as the contact for my domain

Well, it did go straight into my spambox, but I noticed it as I was clearing it out.

I use spamassassin on the server and popfile for bayesian filtering on the way from server to client.

Internic will give your whois server given your domain. (for com or org, not .co.uk)

Your whois entry there will give the contact email you gave when you set it up (and all sorts of other details).

Sucks, doesn't it. I winghed but apparently its some kind of regulation or something.

I was unclaer on my instructions.

On your internic whois entry, go to the site listed as your whois server. Run a whois there and you get all the lovely goodies.

Yours seem particuarly un-proofed against spambots. Usually there is some graphic that happens to be letters and numbers which is easy for a human to read but not a program that you ahve to type in to get to the whois entry. Yoyrs don't seem to ahve bothered.
