Date: 2020-05-25 07:00 am (UTC)If a married woman is still expected to work a full-time job, do the housework, look after the children, look after the husband, look after her parents, and look after the in-laws ....unless she actively wants children, what has marriage got to offer to any woman educated enough to be capable of earning a satisfactory living by herself?

Date: 2020-05-25 07:17 am (UTC)Women could play this dumb about exactly nothing, we'd never get away with it. We *should* be able to do everything they do and run/clean the house, raise/clean the kids and prepare/clean up after the meals (besides many, many other things) without breaking a sweat and with plenty of vim and vigor left over for extracurricular activities or else we're just being so mean and selfish.
Men? Hahaha.

Date: 2020-05-26 04:46 am (UTC)There's this whole thing where men are bigger, stronger and can be really quick to anger over the most unpredictable things, not to mention conflicts over household chores and childcare can lead, like any other conflict, if not to the abuse I just hinted at, then also to literal divorce and breakups, so to say, "Just because they can get away with it?" is a) true because yes, certainly they can but b) totally disregards the very complex, sobering and sometimes frightening reasons why.
In all honesty the fairest childcare split I have seen is in divorced couples with a 50 / 50 split of having the child with them.
Which shows you how easy it would've been (much easier) to split childcare in such a fashion from the comfort of the previous couple's still-shared home before they divorced or broke up but nooooo, that was too much trouble for the usually male half of the equation *until* the divorce or break-up occurred, *then* all of a sudden...
And no, in a 50/50 split I'd venture it's still not fair or equitable for the moms, who chances are bear the burden of actually raising and caring for the child(ren) properly during their 50% of the time while most fathers rather absentmindedly just "have the kid(s) over" when it's their turn.
