I'm now wondering how stiff you could make one of those floating tensegrity tables, if it could be good enough to be furniture rather than a neat trick :-)

Yeah, they mostly seem to be on the edge of collapse - a small push in the wrong direction and they go down. I'm sure you could add more cables to make that less likely though.
