I'm glad someone is pointing out how completely unfeasible it is, shame the mainstream media seem to have completely failed to pick up on any of these points.

I mean, I'd love the road and rail network to Stranraer to be upgraded and links to NI to be improved given that my inlaws live there and it would make visiting without flying significantly easier, but it's not going to happen.

The more I think professionally about what's down there the more problematic it seems to be.

These guys would be the first person I'd phone if I were a journalist but if I were Bibby I'd probably not say anything.

Do I want windows on my plane?

Do I want windows on my plane if the plane uses 20% more fuel?

Do I want windows on my plane if the flight costs 20% more?

If so, what will make me want windows on planes?

I want windows on my plane because they're claustrophobic enough as it is. But I'd just suck up paying the 20% more because I'm not going to be flying if an alternative is workable anyway.

Oh god, those made me feel even sicker on the transatlantic flight I took where there were screens on the seatbacks!

If, instead of windows, there were much much larger video screens showing the view from outside would that make you feel better, or worse, do you think?

The proposal (not just for this plane, but for other future planes) is to do away with the porthole windows and replace them with screens.

It'll be the question of the age I reckon.

I've been on aircraft where the seat pitch resulted in me not having a window. If passengers tolerate that, airlines will assume they'll tolerate no window at all.

On a RyanAir Boeing 737-800 it's 11A, 11F, and 12F.

Of course, RyanAir is an ongoing experiment on what passengers will tolerate. Not sure how it passed the ethics review board.

I expect more passengers will have issues with the aircraft rolling at a significant rate if they are further from the middle. It can feel quite odd in a current window seat if a max-rate roll is performed.

Yeah, my issues are two fold - claustrophobia and motion sickness :(

I like how the design is at such an early concept stage that, never mind windows, it doesn't even have doors.

It's a demo - we build the plane around the passenger and then, if they arrive safely, we unbuild the plane to let them out.

I mostly agree with what the writer is saying, but has she read Milkman? It has a female protagonist (who is being stalked by said Milkman) and the cover is pink. It looks like a travel/romance book. It is terrific, BTW.
