I know how much people justify awful things to themselves, but I don't get how people managed to lie to themselves about the torture. "Oh no, it's not REAL torture. It's just something we do to prisoners because we want them to suffer unimaginably for revenge or interrogation." If it's NOT causing suffering why are you putting so much effort into doing it to people? And if it is, that's what torture is :( :( :(
