UK now happy to hand people to the US for detention without trial and execution
Date: 2018-07-23 01:30 pm (UTC)I thought we had human rights (for at least the next six months) to stop this kind of inconsistent application of rights :(

But, if they're not British and not in British custody, why do we have any say at all what happens to them?

Date: 2018-07-23 04:17 pm (UTC)Not great outcome: four year olds miss out on fun activity, feel sad and discriminated against and unfairly punished.
Potentially devastating outcome: A child insists on attending school despite what they think is a mild illness because they don't want to miss out on fun day. It turns out the "mild illness" is day 1 of the measles (or similar), and one of their classmates, who is immunocompromised; or one of the 10% of vaccinated people who aren't protected by the vaccine, dies.
While obviously I hope this doesn't happen, I wonder if the grieving parents could sue the hell out of the school if it did, for creating an unsafe school environment by encouraging contagious children to come to school?
Also: wouldn't encouraging contagious children to come to school mean more paid sick leave being taken by sick teachers, and more relief teachers, thus increasing the schools costs?
