It's not clear from that Guardian article whether the author (and editor) have once again forgotten bisexuals exist, or whether all the studies being described here did, though she does mention one study that asked respondents several demographic questions including religion, but not sexual orientation.

What the article hints at is that sex with people who actually listen to you, and pay attention to what you like, is better than sex with people who either care only about their own pleasure, or are so sure they know what everyone likes that they let that script override what their actual partners do or say. But "lesbians have better sex because other women know what a clitoris is" is in some ways less of a challenge to patriarchy than "lesbians have better sex because men are less likely to care whether their female partners have an orgasm, and less likely to listen when a woman tells them what she likes, rather than assuring them that whatever they're already doing is great.'" When I got to the bit about "we don't know whether women really talk more than men, in words per day, but it may be true that women care more about communication," I was thinking "or maybe women use more words because we need to, and men get listened to the first time."

That Onion article is exactly what was needed to lighten up my morning.

I've been a lurker for a while, more or less, and now's as good a time as any to say Thanks for these Interesting Links posts.
