Ten fingers, ten toes, two kidneys, one diaphragm, four heart chambers, one perfectly sized cerebellum, no penis, and a desperate need of a new name.

No need for a new name (if you're changing it for apparent-gender reasons) - Loki changes gender quite happily. You could go with Hela but it's a little ominous.

Hooray! Congratulations! How exciting!

Classic trickster move on the name.

Dammit, you beat me to it.

Loki is the mother of Sleipnir as well as the father of various beings, so I reckon it's a gender neutral name...

Kiki, especially if they're using their toes to punch with :-) And you get all the delivery service jokes for free.

Congrats to you both but don't forget that Loki is a trickster and one of the tricks is being whatever gender! :o)

Good to hear.

My first thought was Kali, but perhaps not. You'll think of something.

That's good news.

How sure are you about the not having a penis? My understanding of the ultrasound imaging is that it's not hugely reliable at detecting them.

If you got a good look from the front I think that's much clearer than from the side.

Top stuff.

Ultrasound is awesome. My mum's speciality.

Mum was a bit of an expert on ultrasound in the middle of her career.

I had not heard of ultrasounds leaving uncertainty on this point.

You could consider one of the names coined by Jonathan Swift, Vanessa and Stella. (Both applied by him to women actually named Esther, by the way, and there's an honorable name unlikely to be shared by any of her schoolmates.)

Ah, but does she know an Esther? That's the rare name of the bunch. I like the other names less for being rare (Vanessa certainly isn't) than because Swift invented them. Many People Do Not Know That.

What a well-rounded baby. CLARE IS A GREAT NAME, just saying. (It was really common when I was born, but is now classic but rarely seen.)

Long names, then?

My B. is short for Bernadette (a form too long for her, which she never uses). She was almost named after her Great-Aunt Lutegarde.

Or, since I've seen chat about Clarke's centenary lately, Ermintrude, as in "The Defenestration of Ermintrude Inch."

Hurrah! Glad to hear all is going well, and that Loki is developing healthily. I've very much enjoyed having a daughter (four years next month, somehow) and I hope you will too.

Excellent news! Nothing frou-frou. Give that new being a power name. Why, from what I read before me, Loki seems to do the job. :) Excellent news!

Loki is a wonderful name. [So are Kali, Shiva or Parvati]. Keep us informed and best of luck!

Lola? Sort of sticks with the original sound/pronunciation of Loki, yet still sounds good. I'm also with everyone who says just keep the name Loki if you want, as making gendered names unisex is not in bad taste (disclosure: my mom had one - actually more of a nickname, while her mom had a more unisex one, which brings us back a good 100+ years on the history of people who like to do that).

Come to think of it, Loki is unfamiliar to me so I don't see or hear it as gendered, anyhow (I guess I'm just taking that cue from your stated need for a name change).
