Everything is a metaphor for everything else, because when you get right down to it "metaphor" means "reminds us of in some way" and human beings are very good at spotting similarities in patterns.
But just because something is a metahpor for something else doesn't stop it being a thing in and of itself.
It's just a matter of perspective.

In Godel Escher Bach, various methods of avoiding paradox are looked into, but they all basically rely on having 'levels of conversation' and no level being allowed to refer to itself.
Which would prevent posts about posting, of course :->
