Life goes on, shit happens, the story never ends. Films are about the interesting bits. I finally got around to watching Age of Ultron this week, it has a clear ending to a fairly big plot. But it also clearly sets up a new ongoing story because that's what it's all about, superheroes keep going.
I mean, seriously They set up a business in order to use their proton packs. One of the things the sequel (which I also watched again this week) gets 100% right is that when they were forced out of that life between films they hated it.
Sure, they'd probably rather not have to save the world all the time, but they don't want to quit working.
I really like that modern films can have ongoing characters that develop over time. I love the story arc that Tony Stark is going through and the changes to his character. It's not for everyone, OK, that's fine, but there are plenty of films out there that do have endings, and each of the Marvel films also has an ending.
