I submitted my extended piece on Stupid Software to Kuro5hin, it made it through the queue (always a scary process) and is now here, complete with scathing comments.

The comments were actually pretty useful, and I now want to extend the piece to something about 3 times as long, and cover a lot more ground with it.

Maybe when i'm finished testing my COBOL program...

Interesting to see that nobody (yet) has taken one of my lines of 'attack' [which could br summarised as 'the basic crapness of most software' caused by 'the basic crapness of most people'].

One guy/girl/AI did pick up on the problems of genericism (putting it in a more ultimate way than I did), but not (overtly) stressing the relation between flexibility and complexity of use.

I didn't find any of the comments scathing, BTW.
