I am abnormal

I first thought of a red spanner and then decided everyone would say spanner so changed my mind and said black saw. I have a different mind. Oh well.

No, because everyone else was supposed to think of a hammer. My first instinct was spanner. Can't think why...

My LJ is firends only, feel free to cut and paste it. Alternatively I've since seen the original version here http://www.netlaughter.com/5febuaryfun2/5febuaryfun2.cfm (http://www.netlaughter.com/5febuaryfun2/5febuaryfun2.cfm)

This would appear to be more than 2%.

I nearly said wrecking bar, but it was the background a little bit, the hammer was a little more forth...

I'm wondering if the setup and audience isnt suitable. I think the lots and lots of maths is supposed to get you frustrated, so by the time you get to the key phrase (the this is hard work bit) you just skip directly onto the question without really thinking about it. If you stop and think coherantly about a tool I dont think it works. I know I was impatient when I did it and had scrolled past almost before I made a desicion.

Not to mention IME the LJ brigade tend to be a fairly cynical bunch when reading these kinds of things, so they probably think about it more.

Yeah, perhaps. I didn't find the maths particularly frustrating, so it makes sense :)

I didnt mean frustrating in the cant do the sums sense, but rather the 'get on with the punchline!' way :o)

I was expecting it to be one of those ones where it gives you a chain of sums and you end up being tricked into doing one wrong, so I was skipping along trying to spot the odd one.

Ah! I think that I was also reading too much into the numbers, although I expected a "your number is..." type thing :)

We had this at work today I had 'silver spanner'.

I think that if you ask people to name a tool they will say 'hammer' and a colour they will say 'red'. Maybe there's somethign in distracting them for a while or getting them into automatic responses. It;s like the carrot one.

I use spanners WAY more than hammers, maybe that's it with me.

I'm wondering about the wording of

"I know! Calculations are hard work,
but this is the real thing! Come on, a few more..."

I know its possible to implant images in peoples thoughts using apparently unrelated phrases, thats how a lot of 'mind readers' work. e.g that Guy who had the TV series recently. He did some incredible stuff but is quite open that he's just leading you, rather than trying to pass it off as magic.

LOL! and Oh dear.....You could say tool but why it is blue I'm not sure I want to know..

*starts thinking about all the fun and interesting ways I could make a penis blue. Stops suddenly when I start worrying I might be a necrophiliac*

I thought of red scredriver then changed it instantly to orange hammer. The picture is an orangy red..quite cool. 2 guys here got red hammer and a girl got brown hammer, if this helps the number crunching...

*nods* I got "red hammer". There's a similiar test someone put me through a while ago, where there's a series of calculations and then "Think of three animals. What's the third animal you thought of?" and 95% of the people to do the test always get the same animal.

pink hammer... they were close.
i was visualizing grey pliers at first (since I had just used them), but nevertheless, the word "hammer" came to my mind before "pliers" did.

That was pretty spooky. I ended up with "red wrench" which is pretty odd, since red isn't a color that is often on my mind. I was a little bit confused when I read "tool" so it took my poor brain an instant of floundering before it was able to put a name to the image. Maybe if it had been faster on the uptake, I would have ended up with a hammer.

Or maybe I'm just odd.
