This is a fantastic, hilarious take on the 17th century, the downfall of the monarchy, Cromwell's rise, etc.

Makes history seem rather more interesting.

I love history. When Aaron was in grad school, one of his professors said the love of history was "the love of reading dead people's mail", I completely agree.

Wrt religion, I enjoyed the comment about how in Britain talking about being a Christian made people uncomfortable, I'd definitely enjoy living in a nation where that was true.

Then again, even here most religion is in part a farce. The creation science wackos amuse and sadden me the most. In part they are using pseudo-science to attempt to convert others to their mad beliefs, but in part they actually believe that nonsense. My own response it to think that this is a religion whose days are clearly numbered - even the fanatics must use bad science to support their ailing beliefs. Of course, now that the old religions are dying the true fanatics can become even more crazed (as we have seen far too much of in recent history).
