Barbecue In The Rain
Jul. 19th, 2012 09:53 pmThis evening we ventured forth and actually saw people, for the first time since we got back to Edinburgh.
lizzie_and_ari had noticed that the weather was absolutely gorgeous for a change, and invited us over to grill things. We weren't sure we were going to make it, (and I ended up cancelling Meredith dropping stuff in later on), as Julie has been quite sick recently, but she felt well enough at 6:30 that we made the five minute walk over. We met up with Lizzie in Sainsburys where we bought meat (for us) and vegan grillables (for them), before arriving in their lovely little garden, where Ari got the firepit going, and started a variety of things on their journey to charcoal.
At which point, of course, it started to rain. We stuck it out for a bit:

but eventually retreated inside, where the three of them drank chocolate wine and I had a nice cup of tea.
It was exactly what we needed. We've both been worn out recently, and a quiet evening of just four of us, with gentle chat and lovely company was perfect.
