I was actually quite startled at that CofE article, although i detect some Rater unfair editing towards te end - Richard Chartres is quite sensible IME and you could read his quotes as being unrelated to the earlier nuttier ones, rather than being endorsements, so I suspect they were.

But the CofE does appear to be in danger of becoming a mad parody of itself. Moral leaders of the nation ... who are still, in 2012, struggling profoundly to come to terms with same sex relationships and women in positions of authority. I don't think so.
