Date: 2012-07-01 11:36 am (UTC)Colour: as noted elsewhere, I am disappointed at my score of 4. I truly did expect a perfect zero! I can't imagine how you got 62! Maybe your monitor is badly calibrated?
In any case, it really is a reminder that we none of us experience the world in the same way.
We probably all assume that most people have senses roughly equivalent to our own, and act accordingly in all sorts of little ways (skipping the deodorant, not turning the lights on etc... etc...)
[I am quite aware of this at times - Steven has an *insanely* good sense of smell, I mean mine is excellent - but his is superhuman, and he can no more not take in (and use) what it tells him than any of us can take in what we see, and it does lead to a slightly different experience of the world (especially since most people do not use/pay attention to their nose nearly as much as their eyes/ears). My hearing is super-sensitive, especially in the extreme upper range (not so good on sub-bass, though). I can hear rat-scarers, power supplies, old CRT monitors [thank god they are now rare] and all sorts of other nasty high-pitched things that make me flinch/cringe and most people seem oblivious to - I am sure it has a use but b*ggered if I have found it out yet. I do rely heavily in my night vision, that at least is useful - but I really do forget that not everybody sees well in the dark... and they forget that I can't take bright lights, especially sudden ones...]

Date: 2012-07-01 08:40 pm (UTC)I found it fairly easy to tell which way round any two should go (by swapping them) - oddly, if they were wrong, it almost looked as if the bar became jagged, which was clearly some form of helpful optical illusion.

Date: 2012-07-01 12:12 pm (UTC)Anytime you're not sure about a pair of colours, swap them. It's then usually obvious if that's better or worse. In fact, if the colours around them are in fairly good order, the difference between them is suddenly striking.
BTW, could you add a note the FT link to say you can't read it unless you're subscribed?

Date: 2012-07-01 03:10 pm (UTC)Have you ever seen Brass Eye? That took media satire to that level, absolutely ridiculous claims that they then actually managed to get celebrities to endorse, and in one case an MP to ask questions about in the House of Commons!
