My favourite 'laugh first, think later' thing along the lines of MPs being chosen at random (though note that the model didn't suggest that *all* politicians should be chosen at random, just that some should) is the suggestion that professional models should be drawn by lot from a random selection of the population.

I do worry about novice MPs being led astray by civil servants. Or, indeed, professional ones.

And your suggestion re:models is, indeed, making me think.

You have NO IDEA how much I want to go to the Faroe Islands. When I finally had enough time and money to afford the walk-on fare for the ferry from Scrabster, they cancelled the sailing (I was going to take hiking/camping gear to save money). Now it's an expensive plane trip plus the hassle of taking hiking/camping gear on a plane.
