a counsellor once asked me how I felt about being a man.
she rephrased that as to how I felt about the power of being a man
she further rephrased as to what advantages I felt I had by being a man

she stopped asking when I repeated for the nth time that I had no idea what she meant: I had no concept at all of the 'power of a man'.

I still don't.

[I am often told I'm a scary mf, but I assume that's entirely unrelated]

it's interesting how many of those do not apply to me, personally.
in fact, based on my life experiences thus far I have cause to actively disagree with some 3/4 of the statements.

I'm aware that probably won't be the case for most men.

Good choice of link, there - I think this particular Sinfest sequence has been excellent. I think Tatsuya Ishida is always better when he's angry about something.

I also liked how in this case he starts the sequence very frivolously, and then builds up to the kicker.

The idea that the whole world is wrong, and everyone's a colluder including the viewer, strikes me as a very unhealthy way of thinking, even if the person speaking it represents a cause that is very real. It seems to suggest we should listen to what someone else is saying, rather than learning to trust ourselves.

I suppose the message of "open your eyes" is good, but dunno, just creeps me out a bit.

Nah, I'm sorry, but I'm not a colluder in some grand conspiracy. Sometimes I'm ignorant about something, but I can learn not to be.

It's a tempting, and heroic vision, but I don't buy it.

I don't agree with the word 'wrong', it suggests absolute 'right'. But that generally the world is misguided and that things could be a lot better, yeah, I suppose I'd go with that.
