So do retro movies. But people still love Star Wars and Blade Runner. The former's looks like crap and the latter is unimpressive after 20 years of other films stealing and improving upon its ideas.

It's about nostalgia. Video games (like SF films) have improved so much that it's inevitable they'll suck a few years later. Forget about the *really* old games -- remember how psyched people were when Genesis and SNES came out? Those are garbage too, by today's standards.

FWIW, I still like playing the original NES Zelda.
