All those old games you played when you were a kid in the 80s/90s that were great and had far more playability than the games now?

They sucked ass.

Through a straw.

This thesis is hilariously expounded upon here.

I used to play video games all the time.

Now I do not.

I'll leave the math for someone else to complete...

more that if it didn't cost a quarter or two, it wasn't doing it for me.

Feel free to read that sentence in an Abe Simpson voice.

I like the music part of Rez, but the little pulsating man worries me.

There's some really gross photography here.

Jesus god.

Even the doctor admits it's gross.

Don't just stick to the 'fingernail' category either.

So do retro movies. But people still love Star Wars and Blade Runner. The former's looks like crap and the latter is unimpressive after 20 years of other films stealing and improving upon its ideas.

It's about nostalgia. Video games (like SF films) have improved so much that it's inevitable they'll suck a few years later. Forget about the *really* old games -- remember how psyched people were when Genesis and SNES came out? Those are garbage too, by today's standards.

FWIW, I still like playing the original NES Zelda.
