I can't add have Google+ on my normal Google account, because that's on a Google Domain (andrew@ducker.org.uk is hosted by them).

And because it's a Google account I can't add it to the list of alternate emails for the Google account I _can_ use with Google+.

So Google+ emails can only go to the email address associated with this account - which is one I didn't have until this evening, and which I have no particular wish to ever receive email at, ever!

Ok - what's the best way to forward emails from one GMail account to another? All I want is Google+ notifications (which is all that should ever show up there) to appear in my @ducker.org.uk account rather than this new @gmail.com account.

Edit: Got it. GMail actually handles forwarding really well. Checked for confirmation, set it up with some nice options, and it all works perfectly. The only glitch I had was that I wasn't able to test it myself - as emails from andrew@ducker.org.uk sent to an account that autoforwards _to_ andrew@ducker.org.uk don't actually get forwarded, because that might create an infinite loop! So, smart on their behalf, momentarily baffling for me. All sorted now though.

I have several Google accounts forwarding to one main one for various reasons (quicker to type -> regular account, work -> regular account, etc). It's been working quite reliably for me.

One caveat that you might want to fix. I have a similar issue. I use a gmail address as a big rotting heap of backup emails to scrabble through if actual emails are ever lost. However, the gmail account address keeps leaking out and people keep finding out about it and emailing it when it is not the email address I wish them to use.

I managed to set it up so that if people email the gmail account it sends a "Oy, this isn't my proper email" message and also forwards the message to the right account. That way, hopefully, all but the stupidest people will change the email address they use to the correct address (which is futureproofed as yours is).

That's what I hoped. :-)

A "vacation message" giving the correct email address works.

But it's worth noting that it only appears to be sent the first time someone emails you, and that they won't receive that message on subsequent emails they send you unless you switch it off and on again. At least, this is my prior experience, it may be that it no longer works that way.

It posts once and then again some time later. It says "at once every four days".
