I am fascinated by the LJ one, which is dated February 2004. How did it come to your attention now?

So many people mentioned shadesong who I had never heard of that I had to check out her journal. It doesn't seem bad, but it doesn't seem any different than the dozens of journals by bisexual poly women. What I don't get is why she has so many followers. The bi poly women on my friends list all seem to have far less (except for the ones who write hard core descriptions of their sexual encounters and/or post pictures of themselves eating girls out.)

I get the impression that when LJ was smaller she was shamelessly self-promoting and very, very interactive with her 'readers' - a heavy commenter and so on? People like that, apparently.

LJ used to have a lot more of the whole "LJ superstar" kind of thing where people who seemed popular or cool would gets lots of people friending them, particularly if they were active in communities. Eventually it got to be kind of self-sustaining because people around certain scenes/communities would feel left out if they didn't have certain people on their friends list or didn't get comments from them.

I was with him on the basic 'A Christmas Carol is SciFi' premise but I lost commitment to the idea when his execution was so... charmless.

Mary Poppins as a Time Lord, though. That is awesome.

Stuxnet -- reckon we should get Greenpeace onto it and use the same techniques to get ALL nuclear stuff out of action? ;)

Meh. Yeah I know. I just feel that using nuclear power to save the planet is like fucking for virginity, you know.

It's still really funny that America are claiming (falsely) that they don't approve of "offensive cyber warfare" and clandestine nuclear programs, when this attack was very likely carried about by their BFF who both did this, and has a clandestine nuclear program. Ah, hypocrisy!

the washington post thing is like that image that's done the rounds, where there's a picture of a myspace page where something like half the page is made up of four separate adverts that all happen to be for the same film.
