Interesting. I'm not clear if what the protagonist is doing is going into the past or going into a recording - honestly while more grim the 2nd both makes more sense and would make for a more interesting film. It also seems more likely given that the director also made Moon. While vastly better-looking than Green Lantern, it could be stock trash or it could be interesting - I normally bet on the first, but now knowing who the director is I'm much more curious. Cowboys & Aliens looks like utter fluff, but fun fluff, which sadly doesn't look to be the case with Green Lantern.

If they actually go for the "he can save her, despite her only existing inside a recording" ending then I might have to punch myself repeatedly in the head until amnesia sets in.

Well said. I think the only hope of the film being good is if the protagonist comes to terms with the woman he meets being nothing more than the recording of someone who died. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that in a US film, and it could be pretty powerful. If it was almost any other director, I'd assume that the chances of this being true were on the order of 0.01%, with this director, I'd bet more like 33%.

Wait, wasn't that the plot of Moon as well? Not saying that this is bad, just that some directors have repeating themes.

The ending of I am Legend was changed to stupid after focus groups were upset by the smart ending.

The ending of Scott Pilgrim was changed after focus groups disagreed with the original ending.

Chances are, if the director films a smart ending, focus groups will override the director.

That didn't happen with Moon, so there is some hope. I hadn't known that was the reason that the end of I Am Legend was changed from interesting to sucky.

I'm seeing the possibility of a Brazil-esque ending to that one.

Yes, quite.

Given the title, it's either a recording, or it's a 'we're all in the Matrix' scenario, I think. I don't like the idea of saving her in the first case, and the second case regardless. It looks great visually, but I'm also thinking it probably owes a lot to Seven Days. And Groundhog Day of course.

I have hope for Source Code. Bourne Identity meets What Dreams May Come if I'm lucky. :)

I still can't get over the name. (And I'm amazed it is winning.)

I just read the comic yesterday and it's remarkably different. Plot's wildly different, and a lot more goofy fun and derring do.

Interesting to see the divergence.

Cowboys And Aliens: Looks like a big ol' hunk of strong cheese. And my be good as such.
Source Code: An Indie braintwister. And may be good as such.
Green Lantern: A slick Hollywood high budget movie. And may be good as such.

My opinion is that Source Code has the most upside potential, could be really good, or not. Hollywood blockbusters and action-effects-movies tend to follow along well-travelled, predictable ruts. You know what you're going to get.

I still haven't found time for Skyline yet. and I'll be away when Tron opens.
