That's a list of tax exemptions, not loopholes. Loopholes are more like the fact that capital gains and unearned income are taxed at lower rates than earned income, so that it's advantageous to arrange your tax affairs so that your income looks like one of the former, and not the latter.

The article on job references is really useful, thanks.

(Useful in that a) I can check I'm not doing that in references I write, and b) in that if I'm aware of my likely selection bias in references, it'll increase my chances of picking out great employees. )

The usual caveats apply, of course. F'r example, I'm very, very aware of the power of communication in team-building, and very focussed on morale in general as a manager, so frankly I'm more likely to hire someone described as "helpful" over someone described as "forceful".
