Jay spent nearly two hours poised with his camera and took more than 80 shots before striking lucky with this particular bolt of lightning at 8.45pm on 22 September. He said he had been waiting 40 years to get the picture.

That reads strangely as if he'd known for 40 years that a bolt of lightning was going to strike the Statue of Liberty at exactly 2010-09-22 08:45.

There wasn't a bare wire dangling from the statue and an oddly souped-up DeLorean zooming past it at the time, by any chance?
