I hadn't realised Quo had changed the lyrics. That is a big disappointment. They should have left it as it was and seen if anyone noticed.

Many probably wouldn't. There are a few songs that seem to be constantly misinterpreted and played over footage of events. Springsteen's Born In the USA is the prime example as is The Stranglers' Golden Brown both of which are often used on TV. Does anyone ever listen to the lyrics??? And how I laughed for when the BBC released a charity version of Lou Reed's Perfect Day - a song about heroin addiction.

The interesting thing for me is that it got 600,000 plus hits on Jezebel and almost 500,000 unique hits on Deadspin, making it the most popular article in the history of Gawker Media, in terms of page views, yet at the same time was universally hated by everyone who read it to the point where they had to create a separate page just for the thousands and thousands of complaints.

Plus, the legal implications are astounding. Lots of people are going to get sued. I'm generally anti-lawsuit, but not in this case.

I think the guy criticising Quo is missing the important difference between an outsider's viewpoint and a soldier's viewpoint. Though the commenter who thinks they are imitating Shakin Stevens amused me!
