andrewduckerJulie and I were up at 9-ish, and straight into tidying; spending two hours putting the flat to rights before my Dad (and my brother, sister-in-law and nephew) arrived to see the shape it was in. He last saw it just before I moved all my stuff in, 3 years ago, so it was quite a change, but still exhausting getting it all clean. We then left Julie to finish waking up, and the rest of us went for a walk in Holyrood park, showing Noah the swans, and enjoying the view and nice weather.
We then had a lovely lunch at my brothers, complete with cake that my father had made, and played the Railroad Tycoon board game for a couple of hours (I got beaten into second place by one point by Hugh), and then went off to see a comedy show at the Fringe. I was a bit worried, as I'd chosen the show - which was tricky, as comedy tends to be late-night, and Hugh/Meredith can't get a babysitter that late.
So, anyway, I'd ended up booking an early evening one with no idea if they were worth seeing, and was grateful when they turned out to be quite good. Not amazingly funny, but of the three of them, one was very good, one was pretty good, and only one of them was a bit rubbish.
And then we went back to Hugh's for more nice home cooking, a few glasses of wine (for other people, as I don't drink wine), and chatting, before staggering home at half ten, feeling utterly exhausted.
All in all a lovely birthday.

Date: 2010-08-23 07:52 am (UTC)If the company I went with had had them in stock I'd have gone for a 250GB Momentus XT hard drive, rather than a 1TB purely physical one. The XT has a 4GB SSD built in, acting as a cache, and apparently greatly increases boot speed and app loading speed.
