Perhaps rejected for its phallocratic imagery.

It's fun, but I strongly suspect the bridge is a joke-concept model at the very most.

Why ever would you build a bridge like that, instead of a much cheaper and safer conventional one across the water followed by a much cheaper and safer small flyover on land? Unless the land available on either side was so insanely constrained that this was in fact cheaper. Which given the location is not entirely improbable. Or a double-decker standard bridge would do the job with even less land take.

Yep, besides which there are already 4 road links between HK and Shenzhen, including a bridge over the bay which is decidedly simpler than that one.

Any road link between the two is going to have bottlenecks anyway, as there are two sets of immigration procedures to go through...

I could however see them doing something like this, in light of future increased traffic, just for the gimmick/postcard factor

I have but one face and one palm and I find them entirely insufficient for expressing my feelings about the Cracked gaming article.

I have finally been hit by that outboundlink bollocks.

Your top link is on blogs.cars.com, but when I clicked it, I got to an affiliate offer page instead. Several attempts to reclick it. Can get there by copy/pasting, but not by following it from this post unless scripts are blocked.

That'll apply to a lot of people, including logged out users, etc. I thought I'd blocked the scrpit, apparently not.

Oh, for others affected, the Gizmodo story is just as good and shouldn't be affected:

I don't know if you're generally interested in random suggestions for these links pages, but this amused me this morning.
