Just got an email from Page45 telling me that they have all sorts of cool Scott Pilgrim goodies coming in soon, and that if I want to order them I should let thm know ASAP.

Oooh, thinks I, I know a few people on my flist who are _crazy_ about Scott Pilgrim! I'll point them towards this and let them know.

Oh, hang on, Page 45, despite putting out a monthly email full of lovely reviews, commentary, etc. have no web presence at all. Their web page actually says "Coming soon" dated 2009.

So, how am I supposed to tell others about this? Well, I could cut/paste chunks of their email, but it's on my phone, and I can't easily forward HTML emails to myself, especially ones that have images in them, so that's out of the question.

I guess they'll just have to live without the extra custom.

It is a little frustrating. Page 45 is an excellent shop, run by committed and lovely people, who care deeply about comics and graphic novels. I've heard such luminaries as Neil Gaiman and Bryan Talbot laud it as one of the best graphic novel shops in the world, and I don't consider that an exaggeration.

They are, of course, generally snowed-under with all of the awesome things that they do, and I know they had plans to overhaul the website when Mark (co-founder and all-round splendid chap) died suddenly and unexpectedly a few years back. But it's probably about time they got someone to sort it out.

Dave Sim was also a fan
Oh yes, of course. In fact, I think he was one of the people who talked Mark and Steven into setting up their own shop. They helped organise most of the UK leg of a Cerebus signing tour, and apparently Dave Sim asked them why they were wasting their time working for other people and not running their own shop, selling and promoting the comics they were interested in.

Emails to WP is what I was going to suggest. WP hosting is dirt cheap and easy to set up, and if its good enough for the bloody Govt, it's good enough for a small business.

Email them a link to this post? Might be a bit too snarky, but, y'know, if they've got an effective ecampaign tool setup, they ought to be able to capitalise on it.

I swear. Some people don't deserve the money if that's all they're going to do with it.

Last week, I went looking for juggling beanbags. Two shops suggested they *might* get them in, and I should come back in a week. Or maybe two.

Yeah, cheers. I might pop elsewhere.
