Mobile phone question

The Desire came with headphones on a cable that also has a play/pause button.

I didn't like the actual headphones, and I'm much happier using my own - but this means I lack the volume control/controls.

HTC do produce an adapter - but it lacks the "next/previous" .

Can anyone recommend a decent adapter that works better than this?

Soldering iron, solder and a 3.5mm inline stereo jack socket from Maplins.

Appreciated, but unless you've also got a couple of hours to show me how to use them, I'm not sure it would help.

I'd rather use a standard solution if I can, but if not then I might come round and bug you at some point :-> (Or Roy, for that matter)

Have you had a look at the Belkin one they recomend for the ipod shuffle?

So it doesn't have the play/pause on a first cable, with a headphone jack that's uits standard fit headphones after the controlloer?

OK. My last two Sony Ericcson's and my Nokia had variants on this, so I assumed it'd become standard. Damned useful, the Nokia headphones are crap, unsurprisingly, the Sony ones weren't.

The Desire headphones are actually not bad, they're just not in-ear ones.

And yes, my last Nokia came with exactly that cable. Which I've sadly lost, or I'd give it a go with the Desire.
