Lots of resistance from both Liberals and Labour to a Lib/Lab coalition.  You can read it here.

Looks like numerous Labour people want the party to go off, lick its wounds, and work out where to go next, rather than going into a fragile coalition and tearing itself apart.  I can certainly see the merit in that.

There have also been some rather vocal Tories saying publicly that Cameron should tell Clegg where to go as well.

It's interesting what Paddy Ashdown said earlier today. Forming a minority government is not necessarily difficult, and it's not the opposition who the minority PM would have to worry about most, it would be rebellion on his/her own side.

On the other hand, I can see the merit in the Labour party tearing itself apart.

Fuckers.

They wouldn't be such fuckers if they hadn't started tearing themselves apart fifteen years or so back, though. I'm retaining a modicum of hope they might actually start building their way back to being a labour party now that the whole Tory Lite thing hasn't worked out so well for them.
