With the kids in nursery and offices closed Jane and I had a morning to ourselves.
Jane suggested a walk through Ravelston Woods, which was lovely as we'd never been there before, and coming out the other side I realised that there was a path to the top of Costorphine Hill just a few minutes walk away.

While I had always counted myself as having climbed the hill, as the zoo goes nearly all the way to the top of the south side of it, I'd never actually made it to the official summit, and once Jane said she was up for it we wandered up. There were some lovely views, and it was delightfully odd to see some bits of the zoo from the other side of the fence.

Then out through the other side of the hill, past the walled garden, and into Drumbrae, where we got a bus into town for lunch.

Dishoom told us they had a 20 minute queue, but then got inside in 10 minutes, where we drank bottomless chai until the lunch menu opened. And then stuffed ourselves silly on delicious Indian food.
Jane then headed home and I popped to the shops to buy Gideon some new boots (as his old ones sprang a leak last week), and now I'm going to a garden party, where I may have to tell them I'm too stuffed to eat their no-doubt delicious food!

All in all a good day. I may even go get Sophia a bit early so she can come to the second half of the party.
