Sucker Punch

And no, that's not a recommendation*.
It's basically a series of ultra-violent** music videos, with occasional cut-scenes to take you from one level to the next. I completely failed to care about any of the characters, and there's a limit to how much combat I can take without some decent characterisation to hold it together.
It wasn't that I hated it, just that I was bored for about nine-tenths of the movie. A couple of nice scenes, and one actor who acted everyone else off the screen, but was sadly only on screen for three minutes.
The actual direction was perfectly good, and it was very shiny. I just hope to God that Christopher Nolan can find him a decent scriptwriter for Superman...
*Much thought I love Brazil and am enjoying my way through Bayonetta, which feels altogether more honest in its objectification.
**For a version of ultra-violent that is rated PG-13. Think Lord of the Rings without the blood.
