Things I didn't need to know...
Mar. 27th, 2008 08:47 amTheSpark is a dating site I was on _ages_ ago. Jesus, thinking about it I've been on it intermittently for over 10 years now! But anyway, seeing as they're now active on FB they've taken to sending me occasional emails with utterly useless information in it.
Like, for instance, the top 10 dateable people on my friends list.
Does it really help me to be told that everyone wants to date Cat? I _know_ Cat! I know she's lovely, and I know that she has this strange effect on everyone in a 50-foot radius of her. How does seeing it in print help?
I know _all_ of my friends - that's why they're my _friends_.
Telling me which of my friends is date-worthy strikes me as the epitome of pointless data-mining. If I hadn't noticed that Flick was attractive to the menfolk by now, would sending me the information in an email actually change the situation?
*sigh*
(As a side-note, if it told me that 17% of my friends would date _me_ that would have been useful information, at least back when I was single. But does The Spark do that? No, it does not.)
