Attitudes to music

This from a friend (who can identify himself in the comments if he likes)

Someone I used to work with had been bought an ipod.  She was a bit upset when she went to use itunes because she was sure she'd been told that it was free to download stuff.

So she asked around and some guy at work gave her this website that was like itunes but free...  I can't remember which site it was, but it was one of the big torrent search sites.  she had no idea.

Similarly, someone I work with now didn't understand how it all worked.  She knew mp3s cost money, but she also knew her kids didn't need to get her to pay for the music they downloaded, so she assumed there were just nice free sites for it.  funnily enough, there were -free- sites, but not -quite- with the same legality as itunes...

Which just goes to show...
