Low lying fog blanketing the hills outside. It's possible that it will rise later on in the day, but it looks like we won't be going for a walk on our last day here. It's a shame, but as my calves are still sore two days after Helvellyn I'm not too broken up about it.

Yesterday we went to a zoo. I was initially sceptical, but it was very nicely laid out with lots of space. I got to see several Madagascan animals, as they specialised in them - and very close up too. All of the outdoor cages were pretty big by themselves, but even better was that some of them connected to a huge cage (about 50 by 20feet) which you could walk around. This meant that the marmosets (and some of the small monkeys) could hide away if they wanted to, but were able to go swinging around a large space just over our heads. Dad got several shots of a marmoset sitting within easy touching distance (although we didn't try to actually pet it).

I did get to handle a King Python, stroke an iguana (which was shedding its skin - much to the delight of a group of cub scouts, some of whom got to go home with bits of it) and see two large fruit bats close up as they were hanging from the ceiling in the reptile room. I got a fair few pictures, so I'll be putting them up over the weekend.

Tomorrow we're out of here by 10am, so I'll be back in Edinburgh by 1-ish and can get going on the next flat project - covering every inch of my room in shelves so that I can get all 47 boxes of my stuff out of Hugh's flat and back where it belongs. I wonder if I'll find yet more stuff I can throw out...
