the sentence may be a bit much, but i do think he went too far. in the sense that his human rights only extend until they impinge on someone else's. deliberately offending the religious in a prayer room is just being a cunt, not enlightening people.

I have to agree with you... I'm no big fan of religion myself*, but some of his stuff cuts too close to hate literature. Besides, his conduct seems less related to educating the public and more to getting jollies from being an asshole.

* Irony of ironies, I'm about to pack up and catch a train to Toronto for my youngest niece's christening... however tempting it may be to smuggle in an Alka-Seltzer packet and slip the contents into the font during the ceremony, though, I respect my brother's and sister-in-law's wishes too much to do it. And that's the difference between me and that whackjob.

Oh, I definitely think he was a bastard that should have had the book thrown at him. But the charge should have been "harrassment" - the fact that it was religious in nature ahouldn't have been a factor.

Excludes Scotland, that's "the celtic fringe" and can safely be ignored.
