Fun and games with networks
Jan. 11th, 2002 10:29 amThe new network is going in this weekend. In preparation, we've replaced our Primary Domain Controller with a brand spanking new box (uber-fast, super-loud). It went in last night as a Backup Domain Controller and seemed to work fine.
This morning I come in and about a quarter of the machines in the network couldn't log on, citing "Cannot find Domain" which is less than useful. So we try this and that and the other and eventually we knock over the new server and 'ping' it all starts working.
Which is going to make working on the system today a tad tricky.
I suspect the problem is down to the abomination that is our network infrastructure (I still find it hard to believe that we're running two IP networks on the same network, with some machines having 2 IP addresses on the same card), which won't be sorted until 2 weeks from now...
Oh, the next 2 weeks are going to be fun. No time off for me.
