"I wanted to stop the whole time, but I just couldn't. I didn't have the will to do it. And that goes against my nature," he said. "I haven't really figured out why I did it."

I love that every time this experiment is recreated there's mass shock at people's behaviour.

I really liked the thought about how we should teach people to disobey.

Recently, I had a conversation with my boss who felt I had a problem with authority. It took me a while, but I realised I do. And I'm very happy with that.

We're kind of too malleable, aren't we?

But I guess it's a compromise between us being more independent and working in social groups.

Ummm... I broke a similar game (the blue eyes vs brown eyes one) at high school by speaking up and telling the Deputy Head during his introductory speech that what he was proposing was completely unethical and racist...

However, I have discovered that one gets into trouble from 'the group' for challenging unacceptable behaviour in others.

They local radio folk were talking about this and asking "What's next? A televised execution?"

At that exact time I was driving through my downtown past the site of the original bastion and court house,... which held public executions for all and sundry for many many years.

Sigh.
