That was a fun commercial. Its nice to see one that doesn't take itself too seriously.

I've often thought that making adverts which are, you know, enjoyable to watch is an undeveloped niche. I mean, imagine a world where everyone says "ooh, good. advert break, we can watch the advert by product X, that's always amazing", wouldn't that be (a) more enjoyable and (b) more effective?

(OK, I admit adverts probably have to aim for broad rather than deep effect.)

That was funny. I'm not sure it will cause me to buy the product tho.

Where was the Old Spice music? You can't have an Old Spice advert that doesn't have the musi, it's Just Wrong, damnit!

I can't hear that music without thinking of the Carling Black Label piss-take advert of the bloke surfing into the pub.

"Bet he drinks Carling Black Label."
"Pint of aftershave, please."

[ETA: Ah, here it is!]

I heard this was done in one take, with minimal CGI:

(Not to imply that I read Oh No They Din't ;>)

What stunned me was that, after searching for how they did it, it's a single take, with almost no CGI.

http://www.darrangange.com/2010/02/12/the-making-of-the-old-spice-the-man-your-man-could-smell-like-superbowl-advert/

The only CGI is the shot of the diamonds coming out his hand and to remove a part of the mechanism to get him on the horse.

Unless those two guys (who wrote the ad) were taking the piss, which is, y'know, possible :)

It's the kind of advert that looks like it's easier to do with CGI, especially after that chroma key backlot from the other day.

Though given that, I'm pretty sure this must all be done with out CGI as we: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkpBC6ilHIA

The ad also clearly works - Today, shortly after watching this, I overheard two guys in a grocery store talking about this ad and one of them mentioned they'd give Old Spice a try.
