The SOR banning thing seems illogical to me. Based on the page linked to, the offenders are required to register their email addresses and internet ids, so the list of ids that are being banned are ones that were most likely voluntarily provided. It seems to force those people to create anonymous/covert ids. If someone wants to get on a social networking site, they will find a way, unless they are being constantly monitored. So the only people who will be negatively impacted are the ones who are trying to follow the rules, who probably aren't the dangerous ones.
It would make more sense to me to not ban the IDs (except from sites that are specifically intended for kids), but to rather enter them into an online searchable database, along with details of their crimes. That would be similar to how the offenders' name/address details are handled.
