Seriously - I had no idea that lots of Ugly Betty was green-screen.

It makes sense but it is still a real shock.

Huh. You really wouldn't know. Particularly as there is so much - clearly (based on the clip you posted) inexcusabley - bad green screen-type stuff. Specifcally referring to some of the passengers-in-moving-car scenes in Bones. So bad.

I guess not only do you have to deal with shutting down the streets and weather conditions, but also editing out and replacing any logos you don't want in the shot. For example, you see Ugly Betty walking into a bus stop with an ad displayed. I guess they wouldn't want that to be a real ad that got lucky. Or business' signs, etc.

It's kind of cool to think about.

I remember when I was on site filming Enemy of the State, they had a lot of problems with people just walking through a shot. Even with the roads blocked off, people would think that if they just moseyed through casually enough, they'd get to be in the movie, and there were insurance issues and extras' unions and so on to consider.

I do, too! I'm really enthusiastic about the idea that we can do more and more with CGI.
