Here is a flash app with naked women in it.

They don't start off naked - they start off as a clothed line-up. But as you pass your mouse over each one you see what real people look like under their clothes. I don't know the origin of it, although if anyone speaks Russian then the comments might let them know.

What I'd love to see is this crossed with something like the Height/Weight Chart I posted a few days ago, and with more genders (and sexes), a massively expanded age range, more races, and much more of a weight range.

I've known an awful lot of people who have grown up ignorant and scared of their bodies, and it makes me furious that the vast, vast majority of body imagery that we see around us is of an incredibly limited section of the possibilities. I'm fine with fantasy imagery and wanting to see things that make us feel good - but that shouldn't be the _only_ time we see nakedness.

I've been having a bacon sandwich and trying to thnk about this, as it is bothering me. Perhaps because they don't look like they're very happy about the whole affair? I'd probably be fine if they were doing some fun action poses such as gardening, but now it's just a bit peeping-tom?

Probably as a result of it being utterly out of context, what with me failing my Russian GCSE :D

More serioously, I'm interested how you think the table like that on cock-eyed would help; I know that when I look at pictures of women with the same build as me, I feel sick and even more physically repulsive than I suppose I must already be. As a teaching aid? Although it would be interesting, I don't think anyone is going to look at other people naked and say "oh humans come in many flavours! what a relief!"

I am with Kate on this - or even not so young, really. I mean, I am apparently a grown-up, and I know I haven't deliberately gone around exposing myself (ooh er) to a lot more photos of models/Playboy-style cosmetic surgeried or airbrushed ladies and that than most people, though on the other hand I also haven't seen as many naked real world ladies as I'd like; but I did look at some of those and think things like 'ooh, her boobs look a bit like mine and still look nice! hooray'. For me that's been a particular issue, I suppose, as I wasn't particularly happy to grow breasts in the first place and then have at various points been really unsure or un-confident about the way they look, particularly unsupported, cos you usually see them in bras/corsets etc so I genuinely wasn't sure where they were 'supposed' to be, not that it would really make any difference. Am I making any sense at all?

I know what you mean about the facial expression thing as well though, that's actually how I feel about one of the few naked photos of me that exists around the internet - it's a nice photo by an excellent photographer, but I was very cold, and I just generally look serious in it, which is my face's fault cos that's what it looks like when I'm not making a face. So, yeah, I always think my 'gaze' in it could be better as it's a bit 'what are you looking at, eh?'. Yep, babbling again, sorry, needs more tea.

As a footnote although it is actually the main thing I feel most strongly about out of what you said, can I just offer my opinion that you are a very very long way off 'physically repulsive'? Like, the opposite of that. I don't want to be all 'hey, baby' and stuff on here, and you probably know that I think that already and it probably doesn't help, but yeah, I can't just let that one past, you know?

If the purpose is to show lots of different people (women only, in this case) with different body types, having the models keep a flat expression is removing a variable. The photographer is going for a high degree of objectivity, with the consistent lighting and poses.

But I don't speak or read Russian, either.

I agree, but also found myself wanting to see more bottoms! Okay so there is no way of making that sound good. But yes, they're another of those things I rarely get to see normal ones of unclothed. And I bet they're pretty varied and stuff. So, it'd be interesting.

On a quick flick, most of these ladies are on the "more fetching" end of things - I have seen fair few of naked women (gym changing rooms, marina showers etc.)

I recall being utterly shocked the first time I went on a holiday where women went topless. Being as at that point (about 14),the only breasts I had seen were my own, my mother's and page 3 I was very suprised that many of them 'folded over' (even in quite young women) as none that I had seem up to then did that and that's not obvious when they are in a bra.
