Hah. I clicked this link in the fatalistic expectation that it would have some bullshit evolutionary "psychology" explanation, and I wasn't disappointed.
It always bugs me when this is spun as a triumph of working class solidarity etc etc. Reading the actual accounts, it looks more like the kind of chivalry we've always practised in the West.

In terms of m/s production costs, they're more expensive (sometimes significantly more expensive) than producing a print-ready file, because they have bells and whistles that a printfile doesn't.
