That would be great - do you think Dreamwidth's going to make a dent in livejournal? I kind of hope not because I like to have single network.

They're building in crossposting and importing facilities, and they're committed to federation, so that you can do everything from everywhere. So I wouldn't worry about it too much just yet.

What Andy said. I genuinely think that people who love LJ will voluntarily come over to DW once it's up and running properly. It's going to be like LJ but cooler.

The whole idea is that it'll make *everything* into a single network. When it's complete you'll be able to treat anyone on any site that supports OpenID as a 'friend'. I'm not getting an account myself, for example, but I've already got a friends page there because of my own blog (andrewhickey.info).
