i was trying to get my head round logarithms and e and whatnot the other day, with the help of wikipedia among others, as i never learned about them in school. probably due to hiding in my room for most of my a-levels.

I'm really quite sure some of those aren't real books - as sure as I am that some are, having seen or owned them...

Well, there's real books and real books - at least one of those I know is vanity-published on lulu or blurb or one of those, as one of my mates has bought it. you can have anything on there!

Knitting with Dog Hair is not only real, it is written by Wren's cousin.

Oh, I wasn't actually wondering about that one since Erin once owned Why Paint Cats. But there are a couple that looked obviously altered.

By the way, are you free on the 28th to come to my birthday, or will you be off having your own celebrations? I had an idea which you would be my first choice to be of great help with.

I came home due to no intertubes and nothing to do without a puter.

The smartest people may have the toughest time dating, but I hold that this is because "dating" is a procedure not designed for finding one's intellectual peers.

I have social contacts in both highly educated/self-educated and less educated/self-educated social groups, and the people in the second group tend to date more, but they also tend to find fewer healthy long-term relationships.

[livejournal.com profile] heron61, [livejournal.com profile] teaotter and myself are a success story (I almost typed sex story - brain, what are you doing??) of a non-dating model for relationship formation. In fact, most of the brainy types I know who are in long-term relationships met partners through interest-based friendly social activities like gaming groups, writing groups and the like.
