I have Amazon Prime, which means I don't pay any postage costs for things bought from Amazon. Which is nice, and has so far saved me more than the yearly cost (£49).

It's great - except in one respect: They sometimes send things "guaranteed next day" - which means it goes by Citylink rather than Royal Mail. Citylink's nearest depot is in _Livingston_ - 28 miles away. The Post Office depot, on the other hand, is a 15 minute walk from my office.

Is there a way to say "For God's Sake, always send _everything_ by Royal Mail!!!"? No, there isn't.

Sure there is. Open a second account, don't put it under Amazon Prime.

You'll have to pay postage, but it'll get sent by Royal Mail. (YAY Royal Mail!)

I also have Amazon Prime. Amazon have a LARGE warehouse in Glenrothes which is where most of their scottish stuff gets dispatched from. The citylink depot is right next door - hence why most Amazon stuff comes from citylink. This greatly pisses me off since if I'm not home(like today) I have to drive 18 miles to the citylink depot in GLENROTHES, which involves driving past the Amazon warehouse to get to, I'd actually be quicker going to the Livingston one.

This winds me up, too; I'm not that fussed about next day delivery, but I do like Royal Mail. What's worse, some things are 'fulfilled' by third parties; the Prime postage discount still applies, but the next day delivery is completely hopeless. I ordered something last week that I needed before the weekend; it did, luckily, arrive the day before I left home, but I'd assumed I'd have it two days earlier.

Yep, I hate non-RM deliveries. If you're not in your house every second of every day, you need a car (and a lot of time to waste) to get to any of the out-of-town depots. I've actually instituted a policy of asking places I order from whether they use Royal Mail and just not ordering if they don't.

Am I missing something? I don't pay Amazon postage by ordering more than about £16 worth at a time. It's not difficult. Yes, I know you have to wait for it.

My Amazon shopping basket goes on for about 7 pages, so I can always find something that I want to make up the £16. But everyone has their own ways of managing stuff.
