Mixing with the media
Jan. 18th, 2003 08:59 pmLast night Erin got us tickets to an event at the National Gallery where 3 people from the world of computer games were going to choose their favourite films, discuss computer games and their relation to the film world (as well as computer games in and of themselves), followed by a screening of David Mamet's House of Games.
Afterwards, Erin got us invited to the aftershow party, where we hobnobbed with the people that organised it, and one of the panel members, before retreating home at half past midnight when everyone collapsed.
I actually had a good time in a bar too, most unlike me.

Date: 2003-01-18 04:28 pm (UTC)David Thompson who runs Games Kitchen (who produce games for phones and other mobile devices). He chose Logans Run, saying that this was the last SF film produced before special effects really arrived (Star Wars was the next year) and that mobile games are currently in about the same position, hitting the start of the curve.
David Wightman, CEO of Edgies, who chose Wizard of Oz (my favourite choice), whose company has produced several games I've not heard of, but that's probably because they're aimed at the US/Japanese markets.
Lucien King - curator of Game On - was supposed to be there, but couldn't make it, being trapped in Austria at the time.
