When I arrive at work, at 10-ish, I cannot check email on my phone. It will time-out repeatedly as I try to connect to the server. Web works slowly at best.

After 4:30, it's the same.

During the day, it works just fine, which would tend to indicate that there's nothing wrong with the phone, the software, or the servers (which are Gmail-based, and thus not on UK time in the first place).

Which means the problem is that Orange's internet access is _shit_.

As soon as the N96 comes out I'm running away to O2.

Sadly most mobile internet sucks. That's because the back haul from the cells is tiny compared to the available on air bandwidth. It's like ADSL contention, only worse...

It's not even the bandwidth - I get "no connection" at those times. Bags of signal, and HTTP will tend to work slowly, but IMAP connections just bounce off.

I've got an N80 at the moment, and it's a massive step up. I'm _really_ hoping that the battery life is better - if I use 3G on the N80 I get less than 18 hours out of the damn thing.

And I have great internet access etc on my N95, but then I sit beside a window! I suspect your sucky problem is reception over your side of the office as if I have to sit a couple of desks closer to you I can forget about my phone auto checking for emails every hour as it can't get a connection. Come and sit beside me every day!!

Camera still crap. Doesn't even do video. Doesn't have flash or autofocus. This is even worse than my current phone - which is annoyingly crap as it is!

Doesn't do photo-messaging.

The whole application-locking thing annoys me - one they start making third party apps available I'll probably feel a lot happier about that though.

It's almost there though - I'm going to get a year's contract rather than an 18 month one, because I suspect my _next_ phone will be an iPhone.

Oh - plus no hard keyboard. As someone who semi-touch-types on his phone keyboard (i.e. I don't stare at it while doing texts) living without a keyboard would probably be annoying.
